I mentioned in one of my posts a little while back that I had an interview on it's way to introduce to you an amazing woman whom I look up to.. I am so excited to introduce to you the ever inspiring Debbie Spellman! Debbie empowers women to value who they are & live life with purpose through healing emotional wounds and assisting in removing doubt within to live the life you dream. She believes every woman has a purpose and is designed to fulfil a specific purpose and she can help you find your way to living your life to it's best. I was honoured to interview Debbie and get to know her a little more myself and I am excited for you all to be inspired by her in todays interview post..
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO ARE YOU & WHAT DO YOU DO?
I live in Sydney’s east with my hubby and fur baby Jed. I am founder of www.debbiespellman.com, inspiring and empowering women globally to own their worth and value and create a life on purpose. I do this via Retreats, Speaking, Events, Online Programs, 1:1 Mentoring and my online TV show, Detox Your Mind TV that reaches women in over 65 countries.
I am a health & wellness advocate and care deeply about bringing awareness to clean living and a stress-free lifestyle. I travel as often as possible to experience an endless Summer, devour fruit consistently, and follow the pull of an enriching and meaningful life…always.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BEGIN THE JOURNEY OF EMPOWRING OTHER WOMEN TO LIVE A LIFE WITH PURPOSE?
Like many I went through my own struggles. I wanted to be a life coach from the age of 20 yet it wasn’t until I launched my business 8 years later as a Mind Detox Practitioner where I did the inner reflection to identify my unique story. Having struggled with a lack of self-worth my entire life and a deep desire to find my true purpose, my journey led me on a discovery to conquer both of these elements. I now mentor women along the same path I walked to enable them to value themselves, mind, body and soul and to create the unique life they were born to live.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF YOU LOOK LIKE?
- I wake up at 6.30am and do my hour of power. This morning practice connects me with my faith, gives me strength, clarity and wisdom for the day ahead. My fur baby then gets priority when Mr B arrives home and we go on our morning family walk.
- I then start with lemon and water, drink a green smoothie and make a massive fruit bowl. I generally only eat fruit up until midday (Fit For Life Principle), which gives me loads of energy. My day could be anything from coaching clients, working on an upcoming program or retreat, recording Detox Your Mind TV or doing guest interviews. Other times I decide to take the afternoon off – in Summer I hit the beach with Mr B a little too often during ‘work hours’
- Regularly I’ll pop on over to About Life for a fresh coconut or juice. I work in 90 min blocks for the highest level of productivity and this includes a 10-15 min break between.
- Evenings I like nothing more than relaxing with Mr B and Jed, our fur baby. I don’t watch TV so instead use this time to settle in with a good book (I read a book a week), a podcast or an online program.
HOW DO YOU LIKE TO STAY HEALTHY & ACTIVE?
A run on the beach or around the park would have to be my favourite way to get active. Nothing beats nature for soothing the soul. I also love Pilates and walks with my fur baby allow me to catch up on the latest podcast episodes.
YOUR FAVORITE FASHION TREND COMING INTO SPRING?
Dresses! Nothing makes me happier than the first warm day of Summer where I can throw on a dress. To me this is summer at it’s finest. I love bold bright colours such as watermelon and turquoise.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR DOWN TIME?
It varies depending on how I feel. Sometimes I will take myself out in nature with a good book and my journal – all my ideas come from solitude time and deep reflection. Other times I watch TED Talks, learn online programs or listen to endless podcasts from my mentors. My kindle would probably be my favourite; one device that holds hundreds of books! Priceless. As you can see I love learning…
WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION?
Anyone who has dedicated themselves to making a bigger impact in our world. Who has heard the call to make a difference and taken action. I admire those who decide to live a life worth living.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY YOUR LIFE MANTRA IS?
“It is what it is”
Far too many times we worry unnecessarily, care about things that just don’t matter or stress over the details. When things pop up that seem out of my control I use this mantra to get perspective. I do all I can to change it and if I can’t change it…I let it go. Simple really.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?
Wow, what isn’t ;) I have always had big and bold dreams for the future and have never given up pursuing these. I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I was 21 and despite a slight detour until 28 I have worked towards this dream ever since which is to inspire women globally and ultimately spend my time serving and giving back to the poor and disadvantaged.
I desire to serve one million women online spreading the message of self-worth and purpose; so my focus will be around social media, programs as well as speaking. It makes my heart sing to be able to reach a woman online no matter where she is in the world, to listen to her story and help her through her challenges…that’s the power of the internet.
I also love the magic that happens when women come together so I will continue launching my retreats globally. I am also sure a book is on the horizon…will leave that one to destiny :)
