Have you ever found yourself in a social situation out with friends and you are all sitting on your mobile phones not talking? I almost instantly want to put my phone down if this ever happens and make everyone do the same. Or have you ever been having a conversation with someone to realize you're just talking to yourself because they are engulfed by what is happening on their Instagram feed? Have you ever sat down to have a quick look over what is going on with your social media and wasted an hour scrolling pointlessly, only to then maybe feel sorry for yourself for comparing your life to someone elses life.

I am sure these situations and more have happened to you at some stage with either friends, family or partners. I can't sit here writing that I haven't been the one to do some of those above things too, I am guilty. But I can say in the recent months I have taken note of myself doing those things and made sure I am using my phone for the right reasons at the right time.

I want to ensure I am not missing out on beautiful moments by not being present in them but rather try to record or photograph them. So that is why I wanted to share with you some great ideas for becoming more present not only with others but also with yourself.

PHONE FREE CATCH UPS:
When you organise to catch up with friends or your partner try turning off your phone, or sitting them in a pile in the middle of the table and not touching them until you leave. Sit there and talk about your day, listen to what others have to say, enjoy the food your eating and let your senses take in the moment.

LEAVE YOUR PHONE AT HOME:
I practiced this a couple of times when I went to Bali recently. Being such a beautiful place I wanted to photograph things in the places we went but I also didn't want to get too engulfed in trying to capture and share everything as it was happening without enjoying it so I left my phone at home when we went out a couple of times.

GO A WEEKEND WITHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA:
Get outdoors and take in everything you see! Jump in the ocean, go for a run, breathe in deep, hug someone, play with your dog, read a book, laugh until your stomach hurts and be one with the world, yourself and others.

DO AN ACTIVITY WITHOUT TAKING A PHOTO:
We live in a world of Snapchat and Instagram stories which has it's positive and it's negatives. We can easily share our day and adventures with friends and fans. But we can also get caught up in photographing everything without actually just enjoying it. For example the food you eat out, try and enjoy the food for what it is.. delicious, beautifully displayed, nourishing and sometimes naughty.

PRESENCE IS BETTER THAN PRESENTS:
I write about this one as it is nearly Christmas which to me means spending time with family, being thankful and enjoying goooood food.

I hope that if you are reading this and you struggle to be present or someone in your life does that it can help you or them if you pass it on to find the best ways to come back to the real world to just enjoy it and be present in all it's goodness!

CAFE 2 U

On Wednesday I had the pleasure of heading to the Cafe 2 U & Uber Shape Gym fitness circuit with my best gals. We started the morning with a fun but tough circuit that has my legs feeling oh so sore.. but in a good way!! I love working out with friends..it makes it so much more enjoyable and a great way to socialise and get fit at the same time.

Cafe 2 U just launched their new Protein Shake range and the best word for me to describe them is delicious.. I consumed at least three which is probably way more than I needed to but they tasted so damn good! I love that Cafe 2 U brings the goods to your work place or venue too.. if only they could deliver it to my door front every day I'd be a happy gal! I also wish Nude Sisters would deliver me their raw treats on the daily.. YUM!

Okay so just because it's the weekend doesn't mean we have to dismiss fitting in a little exercise even if it's just 10-30mins or whatever you can fit in, it will make you feel great to get your body moving!

This is the third and final instalment of my collab with Missguided & SBC featuring another video workout tutuorial that will work your entire body! Combing all three of my video tutorials and completing whatever repetitions suit your fitness level with some walking, running or even a bike ride over the weekend will have your endorphins feeling great & thus making you happy & energised too!

PART 3 | MENAGE A TROIS

A backwards jump lunge into a squat and press, all combined in one flowing movement. Keep the core strong and the chin high. This is great for proprioception and balance and will hit your full body. It's cardio and it's going to make you stronger all round. This exercise works: full body, core, legs, shoulders, heart and promotes fat loss.

Beginner: 20 seconds
Intermediate: 30 seconds
Advanced: 45 - 60 seconds.

I hope you are all had a wonderful hump day! It's only fitting I bring part 2 of 3 of my collab with Missguided & SBC on hump day as one of my main fitness goals this year is that I really want to work on getting a booty! I've always had quite a flat bum & am going to be doing more exercises that really target that area.

This video tutorial features the Plyo Jump Twist.. which is pretty much a jumping squat & a twist, it's actually quite fun! PART 2 | PLYO JUMP TWISTS

Squat as low as you can making sure that your chest is out and your shoulders are retracted. Keep your head high and jump plyometrically, rotating 180 degrees and transitioning straight into the squat as you land ready for the next rep. Keep soft knees when you land (think of a cat) but try to be as explosive as possible when you jump. This exercise works: full body, legs, glutes, core and promotes fat loss.

Beginner: 10 rotations
Intermediate: 16 rotations
Advanced: 20 rotations

Today I am bringing you Part 1 of my collaboration with Missguided & Skinny Bitch Collective "the secret class of supermodels" training regime aimed at empowering women & the most talked about wellness and lifestyle project for women right now.

This collaboration is all about fitness & fashion and in Part 1 I am bringing you a short video tutorial of an exercise you may like to put into your own workout routine. Clock Lunges are great to target legs, glutes & core which is one thing I really want to tone up. I am not a huge gym person as such; I love to workout outdoors, attend the occasional yoga class & I really enjoy doing my own workouts & video tutorials at home.

PART 1 | CLOCK LUNGES

 

The SBC clock lunges are designed to take your legs and brain in different directions to fire the glutes and facilitate more changes in strength. It's great for building lean muscle. Pretend you're in a clock face and lunge to 12, 6, 3 and 9 o'clock. Do this 4 times on each side. Lunge forwards, backwards and to the sides (note that the final position should look like a curtsey)

Beginner : 3 reps of 12, 6, 3, 9 on each leg.
Intermediate: 5 reps of 12, 6, 3, 9 on each leg
Advanced: add barbell or free weight and aim for 6 reps of 12, 6, 3, 9

ACTIVEWEAR WEEKENDS

I have been looking forward to sharing with you all a few tips I shared over on the Move Nourish Believe blog in a feature post speaking about some ways on 'how to wear your activewear on the weekend'..you can check out the post here

Being a fashion blogger I am generally always dressed in 'dressy' clothes I guess you would call them..but sometimes on my days off or on the weekend I like to be comfy.. don't we all though..being comfy is pretty damn great! Okay so I still like to be fashionably comfortable because I pretty much live & breathe fashion. 

I really enjoy getting outdoors on the weekends either heading to the markets or exploring with my partner Jays by heading on mountain climbs or bike rides or taking my pup Baxter on a puppy date to the creek with my girlfriend Callen and her pup & then heading out for a healthy lunch.
