SUMMER HAS FINALLY ARRIVED.. Ahhh!!!
I am doing a little dance on my spinning chair right now listening to my Summertime playlist which includes 'Walking on Sunshine'!!… Okay so now I've calmed my excitement down slightly I wanted to speak about denim and white.. They have to be one of my favorite trends (I have a few faves but this one is at the top). This combo screams fresh, summery vibes! I have done a few posts featuring this combo with different textures & cuts.. check out this recent one with denim & white lace here which I love.

I don't like to repeat outfits too often but when I do wear something a lot it means I really dig it.. I've worn this denim shirt numerous times since I got it a few weeks ago and I still get excited when I put it on as it is a really different design. The cut-out back takes the cake on all my other denim shirts for sure and it's versatility has me wearing it during the day with shorts & out to dinner at night with pencil skirts or pants just to name a few combos.

SUMMER DRESSING TIPS

A few summer dressing tips that I find essential to keeping cool in the warmer months.

TIP 1: Summer time dressing is generally always about comfort.. especially on a hot day that you know you are going to be out and about in the sunshine & getting a tad sweaty. My tip is it to try and wear something that is not to restrictive or that clings to you. Think flowing dresses, loose shorts & denim and cotton shirts. Try and find items that are made with natural fibres rather than synthetic as to let the garment breathe.

TIP 2:  When you know you are going to be in the sun for a long period of time ensure you always apply (and re-apply) sunscreen & a wear a hat.. there are so many cute hats about these days you'll be bound to come across one you love.. check out these fun lack of color hats!

TIP3: When you can wear comfy shoes or sandals that let your feet breathe or even barefoot if your wanting to get in touch with nature & get a natural pedicure haha. I also find when my feet are cool the rest of my body feels a lot cooler too which is a definite plus!

TIP4: Always carry deodorant in your bag! Whatever kind of deodorant you prefer keep some in your handbag so that you can re-apply throughout the day.. Summer days always make you sweat more and you want to keep yourself smelling sweet!

Do you sometimes look back to being a child feeling like you could take on the world.. jumping, climbing & having fun doing even the most simple of things? I know I definitely do when life gets a bit busy or stressful you just want to bring back the simplicity of life & have a little fun!

I bring this topic up as I mentioned in a past post that I recently went trampolining with a girlfriend Hayley. I hadn't been on a trampoline for years.. it brought back so many memories of hours spent jumping sky high & playing on our family trampoline in our back yard. Hayley and I had so much fun at the Flip Out centre in our local area.. it was one of the best workouts to be jumping around being silly. We even attempted a few tricks,  and definitley took a few bouncy falls & laughed a whole lot!

I suggest this weekend or the next chance you get try doing something that takes you back to your childhood or younger days, something that brings you joy or even give trampoling a go, trust me it is so much fun! Check out the Flip Out website's locations to see if there may be centre in your local area or google something fun close by to you.. and enjoy!

INTERVIEW: SAMIE ROBINSON

Today I am doing something a tad different for the blog and I feel like I want to make it a regular part of it every now and then for you to get to know some amazing talent.. what do you think? Whether it be a model, a designer or just someone super creative who deserves some recognition!

I had a bit of a chat with down-to-earth 18-year-old Samie Robinson a Gold Coast girl who is taking on the modelling world in Sydney signed with IMG Models.. she's a food fanatic, loves her dog & seems to be able to pull any face and still be a total babe town!

I worked with this gorgeous girl on a look book a couple of years ago now, it was a bunch of laughs & we got some amazing shots.. she was a dream to shoot with then.. so I can only imagine just how great she is now & is going to be!

LET'S TALK: SAMIE ROBINSON

J:  What is one of your current fave fashion trends?
S: Leather, mesh and anything quite structured. And chokers! I can't stop buying them.

J: What word would you use to describe your style?
S: Comfortable and simple. I spend a lot of my time walking around the city going to castings, so if I can't tackle a flight of stairs or run like a mad man to get to places on time, I probably won't wear it.

J: Do you have a favorite label/designer?
S: Alexander Wang, always. If only I could afford his whole collection though.. every season..

J:  How long have you been modelling for?
S: 3 years in February.

J:  What do you like to do outside of modelling?
S: I'm pretty simple really. Either spend time with my boyfriend, read, roll around on the floor with my dog or.. eat. I don't get much time at home on the Gold Coast, so when I do I try to relax.

J: What is the craziest thing that's ever happened while on modelling job?
S: Once I was told I was booked for a job/event promoting the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, so I imagined it would be lots of people eating expensive food, wearing expensive garments and I'd just have to socialise. Little did I know, I actually got to drive the latest luxury Mercedes Benz around a race course! Pretty scary being trusted with a $300,000+ car when you've only had your license for less than a year.

J: Any tips for aspiring models?
S: Don't starve yourself to look like the girls in the magazines. Majority, if not all have been retouched.

J:. Who is the person you look upto most in life?
S: Carre Otis, she was one of the biggest supermodels in the 80's & 90's. She overcame anorexia, sexual assault, physical and mental abuse from her now ex-husband, drug addiction and survived 3 holes in her heart. She's a role model in both the modelling world and life in general for me.

J: What are your beauty secrets?
S: Rose hip oil! People freak out when they imagine putting oil on their face, but it's so good for your skin!

J:  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
S: I really have no idea. I'm really just taking it as it comes. I'd love to own a cafe one day, but who knows.

Thanks so much for chatting Samie, wishing you all the best for your future endevours!
J x

BETTS 3 WAYS TO WEAR

I had the pleasure of working with Betts Shoes on the 3 Ways to Wear Project which they collaborate with fashion bloggers. I was so excited to take part in this as I am a huge fan of Betts shoes.. I had the chance to work with the 'Santana' gladiator style heel & all I can say is it is so adaptable to so many outfits whether it be for night or day wear the list goes on!

Oh also pinch & a punch for the first day of the month..what a great way to start the month of August with this.. Feeling excited!

MONOCHROME DREAMING

The monochrome trend is one to catch on to, ranging from stripes, spots, abstract, asymmetrical prints and block items such as a white top and a black leather skirt..just for example. It seems monochrome is something big in the world of fashion at the moment, but it has been around for years.
I believe this trend can be worn all year round in any season, whether you like to stick true to monochrome & wear all black and white or add a touch of colour depending on your mood. I adore the fit of this matching skirt suit by Ladahkh in an aztec style print, I teamed it with a neon coral top just to add a bit of colour to a grey day..with simple accessories.
