I recently read an article that made me think & question things.. It's not so much the article that has anything to do with what I am writing about today but just a tiny snippet of it made me really think. A part of the article was speaking about how a lot of our relationships and conversations are had via social media or text messages and they lack in emotion, real emotion that you can see, hear & touch etc not written text and emoticons. It makes me a little sad & disconnected to think that really important conversations and meaningful things are being said over this technology. I love technology don't get me wrong, I love the fun apps & the staying connected with people overseas and the social reach it has for my blog & business, its phenomenal how this technology has been created & so easy for us to use.
So what I am trying to say..let me put it this way.. you know when you pick up a book or you read an article like I did and you then create a story, a picture in your mind of how things are because of the way you interpret the written text and someone else would read the same book and have a completely different story of images in there own mind even though you are both reading the same thing it's just that your two minds read it differently.
I don't normally go completely in-depth with a lot of posts but today I wanted to open up and speak about this as I feel it is close to home. When it comes to keeping in contact with friends & family members over simple or serious matters I feel as though a lot of the time we are still taking to our phones and speaking through our finger tips to organise, vent or resolve something because it's easy. I am not a huge phone talker but I am going to make the effort to be better at it because I think in the long run it will benefit myself and my relationships.
Today I am going to set a simple task for myself and for you: if you wish to join in is to call someone a friend, a family member, a co-worker and have a conversation with them it doesn't have to be a long one or call them and organise to catch up in person and speak about each others lives, resolve something or just have a good chat and laugh. I feel it is vital for us as humans to be interacting face to face, or at least ear to ear to gain the emotional understanding of each other we need.
