SIMPLE GREEN SMOOTHIE

Todays hot (or more like cold) topic is the green smoothie.. there are so many green smoothie recipes out there for every ones tastes buds and preference. Today I am telling you about mine! If you know me well you know I am a bit of a rebel when it comes to making anything in the kitchen.. I don't like to follow the rules or recipes.. I am a 'wing it' cook and love creating whatever comes to mind in the kitchen with whatever I have in the kitchen. (I've had no complaints to date so I must be doing something right.. or everyone is way too kind..) Either way I always love the taste of what I whip up.

I had my friend Kim over recently ( also known as my trusty photog for the blog) and in-between shooting we were kind of hungry so we decided to whip up a smoothie for lunch and photograph it.. because why not! Oh and the answer is yes Kim loved my throw it together smoothie too! I love drinking smoothies out of mason jars.. it a debatable drinking vessel… so i'll let you decide what you'd like to have yours in.. As you can see I like to store all sorts of things in mason jars in my kitchen!

What you will need to create my 'Wing It' smoothie:
½ x 330ml Cartons of Raw C Coconut Water
3 x Frozen Banana's
1 x Table Spoon of Gusto Herbs Nutrition Booster
½ x Cup of Almond Milk
1 x Table Spoon of Honey
½ x Tea Spoon of Cinnamon 
1 x Handful of Ice

Toppings:
Chopped Almonds
Shredded Coconut

Method:
Throw all the ingredients into your blender.. blend, blend, blend until smoooooth, pour into your drinking container of choice.. Sprinkle chopped almonds, shredded coconut on top & most importantly enjoy! Ps. You might need a spoon to enjoy those topping too.. yum!

ACAI BREAKFAST BOWL

I had always seen snaps of people's breakfasts saying they were having an Acai breakfast bowl on my Instagram & thought they looked interesting but never thought to try one..
Wow well am I glad I did, I was missing out big time.. A cafe next to my work makes a breakfast bowl using Acai not dissimilar to the one I am about to tell you how to create in your own home. I wasn't aware it was frozen or quite cold when I took my first bite & was instantly hooked from my first try..
So whether you have or haven't tried it you should get on the homemade band wagon.. or try it at a local cafe. They are amazingly delicious & healthy too!  

Some info I found out is that the Acai berry comes from the Acai Palm Tree, which is native to Central and South America. It is a relative of the blueberry, cranberry, and other dark purple fruits.

Research on the Acai berry has focused on its extraordinary natural antioxidant activity, known to be valuable preventing diseases caused by oxidative stress, such as heart disease and cancer. 

It is also Natural source of antioxidants & Acai Is also recognised for cognitive and mental function. You can find out more info here.

 

INGREDIENTS

I use Amazonia Acai Smoothie packs which I buy from my local health food store.

1 x 100g Acai Energiser frozen smoothie pack, 1 x cup frozen fruit - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, 1 x Frozen banana , 1/4 cup granola, 1/4 cup blue berries, 2 x Chopped Strawberries, 1/4 cup sliced banana, 1 x Passionfruit

INSTRUCTIONS

Break the frozen Acai up into large chunks while still in the packaging, run under some warm water to melt slightly. Remove from packaging, and place frozen Acai chunks, frozen fruit, and banana in a food processor. Alternatively, use a blender with a little juice or water to blend. Transfer blended mixture to a bowl and sprinkle with granola and fresh fruit.
